Captive

Captive is a Horror/Comedy Short Film made by Thomas Elliott Griffiths and released in 2019.

The story is about an ordinary guy named Dave who just so happens to wake up with his hands tied up and a bag over his head in a random room. In his company is a creepy cannibal serial killer.

When the movie began, I already felt uncomfortable, but when the creepy man played by Michael Robert Leonard showed up, it got even worse. They managed to make the movie creepy without making the audience laugh of discomfort. Not many short films can do that.

Michael Robert Leonard did an excellent job at portraying the scary character. He kind of reminded me of Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Franchise for some reason. I had no clue what he was going to do since anything could happen. I felt like I was in that room too.

I do feel like Lew Freeburn could have done a better job as the main character named Dave. He didn't feel frightened at all, but more like he was just playing a funny game. I don't know if that was the creators intention, but I just got that feeling. Thomas Elliott Griffiths did an excellent job at directing and writing the script. It made sense and I did not expect the ending at all. It made me laugh! And that's a good thing for this scene :p

The music that Thomas Forfar composed was extraordinary. It felt like it came right out of a blockbuster horror film. The end credits were fun and reminded me of a comic book. I just didn't want to turn it off. Great job guys!

This is a fun little film that everyone should give a chance. It doesn't take much of your time and it is totally worth it. Everyone involved, be proud! It's a good short film :)
